I was randomly YouTubing Nanase-san and came across a video for a song I've never heard of called "Oh My Little Girl."  It's a jazzy sounding ballad, and I was wondering where the song came from.

Here's the vid, if you need it:

Nanase sings in English! [31 Mar 2006|11:19am]

[ mood | excited ]

If any of you got Aikawa Nanase-san's latest single, "EVERYBODY GOES," then you've heard the English version of the song, yes? I was very excited to hear her sing a full length track in English because as far as I know this is the first time she's ever done it. I like her English singing. There's obviously still accent, but she's fairly understandable, which is great because when other artists sing it still sounds so weird.

Anyway, anyone else heard this? And what do you think?

R.U.O.K.?! [04 Dec 2005|01:07am]

[ mood | sleepy ]

Hey, any of you wonderful people picked up Nanase-san's latest album R.U.O.K.?! yet? I just got it recently, so the songs haven't completely sunk into my memory just yet, but I can tell I already love it. It's short, but the songs are great. She's still the rocker she's been since the beginning, and she continues to impress with her slow jams. Actually, I think she's really improved on the slower songs. In her earlier ones her voice kind of shook like she wasn't sure of her own vocal capabilities, but her slow song singing's gotten a lot better.

I haven't picked a fave yet. Right now I'm equally in love with all the tracks. Great way for Nanase-san to commemorate her tenth anniversary. Total thumbs up, yo.

- She has taken part in a TV-Drama called 87% Watashi no gonen seizonritsu (87% -私の5年生存率). Her character is Eriko Okada (岡田江梨子).

- She opened the Orenda school last year.

She has written a message about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She says she loves Tim Burton (me too!!), so she was really excited. She has liked it better than the original movie.

After that she says something about her son, whose birthday was yesterday!!! He's 4 years old now :D

Nanase and Marty Friedman have created a new song for the videogame "Heavy metal thunder", the song is called "Love terrorist" and you can listen to a sample on the videogame's site. This is the URL:

http://www.square-enix.co.jp/hmt/

It's really cool, isn't it? Specially after "The first quarter", I really thought she would never make rock music again!

By the way, one year ago I was making a website about Nanase. It was going to be a HUGE database about her relationships with other artists, her tours, music, lyrics etc. The thing is that my sister broke my HD and I lost everything I had, so I was wondering if ANY of you had some English translations of her lyrics. You'd really help me. I'm also looking for collaborators, so if you feel like doing it, tell me! Thanks :)

I've had this one Aikawa Nanase song on my computer for a while now, but I still don't know the name of it.  All I know is that it's a coupling to "Jealousy," and the kanji name for it looks like this:  憂鬱な月を抱きながら.

If anyone can figure out the name of my mystery song, I'd so love you forever.  X.x;;

New to community, but (semi) long-time Nanase fan [18 Aug 2005|01:49pm]

mistressofrobin
Hey all, new to this community. Aikawa Nanase is and will always be my fave J-artist. The song that introduced me to her rocking music was "NO FUTURE," which to some is only a so-so song but to me one of my faves. From there, the fandom exploded, and I have a plethora of her songs, including some of the elusive single couplings.

What's up with our fave singer these days? Last I heard she came out with mini-album "The First Quarter," but after that I'm lost.

Long live Nanase!

Hi! I'm new to the community, but not to Aikawa Nanase. I've been listening to her music since last year and I guess my favorites would include Second Wind, Yumemiru Shoujo Ja Irarenai.. actually I like all of them.

Have you seen the New Nanase?

She looks like she's on fire.

i think her new single is called "R-Appointment" I'm not quite sure. It was babelfishes work [ to lazy to do it myself, plus in the middle of translating Bad Girls ] so you know how reliable that is.

I'm only going to keep these up for a very short period of time so if you want to save them to your computer/disk/webpage please do them asap. Hey yall. I know the community has been a little dry so I decided [ well, took it upon myself ] to insert a song I translated by Nanase. I want to put this on a website and message boards [ where they are English but most members are asian and are fluent/semi-fluent in traditional Japanese ] but I'm a little nervous, so I decided to try my luck here first. Just give me your honest opinion about how I translated it. I won't be mad, I swear :)

This was taken from Nine Spiral's Romanji translation and, obviously, some lines I preferred to others were also adapted. I also had my ID 2 coverbook for Kanji/hiragana reference as well :)

Roppongi Shinjyu was Nanase's last single [ as far as I know ] and not best but the beat is pretty awesome. It's a cover for Ann's Lewis song produced in 1984 written by NOBODY. :)

Roppongi ShinjyuCollapse )

Note on translation:

Translated the song from original japanese to basic english is tough because there is a lot in Japanese that isn't spoken for. Like the line: "Seems like puberty has come to late" is literally "your real man treatment is too late." or "manly milestone is a belated treatment." [ I don't exactly like the word "puberty" in it. Any suggestions? ] Also, when I translate I like to correspond the sentences with the beat so that it makes it easy to karaoke too. It's just a personal reference, especially since I love English Aikawa just as much as Japanese. It's kind of hard to keep up with the song when you're forced to add too many syllables as well as not enough syllables.
Also rhyming sequence [ though the Japanese are not known to rhyme their songs like American artists do ] and sentence structure also has to be taken into account. Basically, Japanese sentence structure is backwards to English as well as setence placements. So when "I love you baby, come hold me forever." would be situated like: "Baby, forever love me. Hold you." You just have to switch it around to make it work.

Sorry, this is an extremely long post :)

If you like these I'll also post up In the Heat of the Night [ probably my most accurately translated song ] and maybe Do It. :)

Hi! [10 Sep 2003|02:30pm]

[ mood | chipper ]

My name is Allison and I've been a Nanase fan for-ever. I've found her out about 4 years ago on a random napster download [same as suppi_the_great :)] and it was the song "Bitch." I loved it from it's hard riffs to it's horns and everything. It still remains my most cherished and favorite song by her. China Rose definitely comes in second [ as well as the second download] and from there I've built up my collection. I'm live in America and currently own Red, Paradox, Foxtrot, ID, Purana, ID2, a VCD that contains four promotional videos [ pv's are the same as music vid's over here. lol. in case you didn't know ] of Cosmic Love [hilarious], trouble maker, Kiogokoro [ absolutely great] and Lovin' you, Heat of the Night, China Rose [ gorgeous], Seven Seas [ even more gorgeous] and Break out! [Hilarious]. I'm pretty optimistic about sharing anything I have with people who show even a little interest in Aikawa so if you want me to send you something [ email or mail ] just leave a message somewhere. I'm pretty nice :)

I reaaally love Nanase. Thanks for opening up this community though it seems to be a little abandoned. Hopefully it will open up some more :)
